Mission: The mission of Grace Upon Grace is to end the cycle of youth homelessness, one youth at a time, through housing, education, and holistic services.
History: Early in 2016, a group of members from Zion Lutheran Church in the fast-growing town of Wellington, Colorado, began to meet as a “Long-Range Planning Committee,” charged with considering ways to more effectively address their mission. At the heart of it all was a strong commitment to respond to God’s love and blessings by serving their community, and a brainstorming session produced a long list of possibilities. The initial thought was to seek to pursue one or two of the ideas, but a little more than a year later a vision for something much larger developed, with the goal of addressing three critical needs: Affordable Housing; Affordable Quality Child Care, and Quality Care for Seniors… from independent living to skilled nursing.
As time went on it became evident that taking on a project of such scope was simply not feasible, and the decision was made to concentrate on one need and then see where it might lead. The original plat for the Grace Village community was a home that was to be dedicated to serving youth aging out of Foster Care. Soon this concept was moved to front and center, and for the last year, plans have been made to address homelessness among high school aged youth.
We were founded out of a need to raise awareness for voices not heard. We have continued to make a difference with the help of our donors and volunteers that make our mission possible. Through all these years our purpose remains the same: advocate change through action.
